Fog’s End B&B is an historic farmhouse and ranch, given new life by Jim and Jan Bahringer. It’s a special marriage of old California Coastal charm, and modern sophistication.

We fell in love with the property immediately upon seeing it in 1998.  At that time, it was a rustic 105 year old farm house and an overgrown, yet beautiful 8 acres of central California Countryside, right at the edge of Cambria by the Sea.  As we spent some time at the property, we came up with what seemed an obvious name, Fog’s End.  Even when the coast is enveloped in fog, this little spot seems to always be basking in the sun.  Often times you can literally watch the fog come over the hillside and evaporate before reaching this end of town.

Appreciating the property’s historic past as a working dairy farm, it was important to us to preserve the character of the old farmhouse and ranch, while giving it new life.  The home still has the historic feel of the old farmhouse, but is now a modern 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom Bed and Breakfast surrounded by a small family vineyard of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes.  The property features a detached Guest Cottage which is also rentable, bocce ball and horseshoe courts, walkable hillsides, and a barn leftover from the dairy ranch days.   The barn has also been updated.  It’s now a pavered-floor barn with a wood fired stove, restroom and a pool table.  It’s occasionally used for Weddings, local celebrations, harvest parties, family gatherings, etc.  The 2000 square foot barn, bocce ball and horseshoe courts are also available for rent upon seperate arrangement.

 

Though rural in feel, Fog’s End is right on the edge of town.  It’s a short walk to Cambria’s East Village, two miles to the beach, 7 miles to Hearst Castle and a short drive to Central Coast wineries. Stroll to some of the Central Coast’s finest restaurants or take the free shuttle to the beach boardwalk. Enjoy the San Simeon Loop trail, East West Ranch Boardwalk or many other local scenic hiking opportunities. We serve a full breakfast and present hors d’oeuvres with local wines each evening.
